Tracing our roots to 1928, Wellington Management Company, LLP is one of the world's largest independent investment management firms. With US$774 billion in assets under management as of 30 June 2013, we serve as a trusted adviser to institutional clients and mutual fund sponsors in over 50 countries. Our innovative investment solutions are built on the strength of proprietary, independent research and span nearly all segments of the global capital markets, including equity, fixed income, multi-asset and alternative strategies. As a private partnership whose sole business is investment management, our long-term views and interests are aligned with those of our clients. We are committed to attracting a talented and diverse workforce, and to fostering an open, collaborative culture of inclusivity because we believe multiple perspectives lead to more informed investment and business decisions. We welcome people with diverse life experiences, fresh ideas and specialised subject-matter expertise.
As part of the continued expansion of our business internationally, we are currently seeking to recruit a Lawyer to join the Legal team in London.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Legal Services in London, this individual will work on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues arising in Wellington Management's business in EMEA. He/she will support the firm's investment activities by advising on the applicable legal and regulatory regimes in the region, including EU legislation. He/she will also support new business development and relationship management activities in EMEA by providing legal advice on client onboarding and client servicing, including assisting in the negotiation of investment mandates, guidelines and restrictions.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a Lawyer with a strong academic background and qualified as a Solicitor in the UK (or holding an equivalent qualification from another relevant jurisdiction). He/she is likely to have at least 8 years of post-qualification experience practicing law, and will come from the in-house Legal Department of an Asset Management business or a recognised Financial Services team in a high calibre law firm. Demonstrable experience of investment management and/or European capital markets is essential.
Please note that we are only able to respond to successful applicants.
