The Hampshire EHS Specialist is a hands-on role, responsible for providing Environmental, Heath & Safety (EHS) leadership and technical guidance for the GE Oil & Gas, Downhole Technology facility in Hampshire, UK. In addition, the position will ensure compliance with all applicable GE EHS requirements and locally applicable regulations.
Instil and foster proactive EHS-conscious culture and drive operational ownership of GE’s Environment, Health & Safety programs through all levels of the organisation.
  • Develop and implement EHS programs to comply with GE EHS framework requirements and regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitor and drive completion of site compliance tasks. 
  • Track and lead resolution of the site’s Employee EHS Concern Reports. 
  • Manage all environmental related matters associated with site operations including air, water, waste and chemical/materials management issues. 
  • Lead team of EHS Framework element owners to ensure successful EHS management system implementation at the Hampshire site. 
  • Assist with EHS classroom training preparation and delivery and maintain the site’s EHS Training Tracker database. 
  • Perform EHS audits/inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented on a timely basis. 
  • Lead and/or participate in incident investigations and ensure appropriate root causes are identified and corrective actions are developed/implemented. 
  • Evaluate site EHS risks and challenges and develop appropriate risk reduction strategies, including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and Display Screen Assessments. 
  • Maintain and monitor the Radiation Safety Programme 
  • Maintain safety and health records and documents required by GE EHS and applicable regulatory requirements. 
  • Additional tasks, as required by Downhole Technology EHS Manager.
  • Proven experience in successfully leading environmental, health and safety compliance programmes in the UK.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team-based initiatives 
  • Demonstrated solid verbal and written skills 
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to influence all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Formal auditor training.
