You will be responsible for the provision of all financial support to the plant, taking a proactive lead in driving commercial performance, identifying and progressing opportunities for profit improvement and adhering to financial reporting mechanisms.
THE FIRM
A £300m multifuel plant at the Ferrybridge power station in West Yorkshire.  The multifuel facility will generate around 68MW of electricity using a range of fuel sources, including waste-derived fuels, waste wood and biomass. The Combined Heat and Power enabled facility will take fuels from across Yorkshire and the wider region.

THE ROLE 
  • Management of the finance function for the plant.
  • Oversee the Finance/Administration function.
  • Manage the production of accounts, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, payroll management and all other accounting related activities.
  • Timely production of all statutory and internal financial reports.
  • Undertake financial modelling and analysis as required.
  • Ensure that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure systems are in place to regularly review financial performance of the plant and that budget managers are supported to undertake budget monitoring within the financial control framework.
  • Liaise with the management team to produce monthly management accounts and provide commentary to senior management on significant variances.
  • Oversee the debtor management process to ensure that debts are recovered on time in order to minimise bad debt.
  • Set up and maintain the fixed-asset register and calculate depreciation.
  • Manage any inter-company invoicing required between MEL/SSE/WTI UK.
  • Ensure adequate control procedures are in place and identify and implement changes / improvements where required.
  • Attendance at management meetings as required.
  • Manage and develop the reporting of appropriate monthly KPI’s to drive performance and actions.
  • Provide clear and insightful analysis of periodic results and trends.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including the maintenance stock account.
  • Produce / review written procedures and instructions for IMS relating to financial and administrative functions. Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of key operational statistics.
  • Provide advice and financial support to the Plant Manager and members of the Management Team as required.

THE CANDIDATE
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience. Strong commercial focus.
  • Experience of working in a finance role at a senior level, ideally within a similar business environment.
  • Good knowledge of financial regulations and understanding commercial agreements with legal issues with good commercial “feel”.
  • Commercially focused and with a good grasp of business principles.
