Job Description

Job Purpose:

To work as part of the UK Analytics team supporting the Assurance business.

 

Client Responsibilities:

·         Scoping the nature of the analytics assignment with the client service team

·         Liaising with clients to extract data to ensure that the required data is obtained

·         Develop an understanding of how to extract data from popular accounting systems (eg SAP, ORACLE, SAGE)

·         Understanding, investigation and documentation of client IT environments and the systems used on a daily basis

·         Analysis of extracted data and cleansing data into a useable format

·         Populating the Ernst & Young proprietary analytical tools and understanding the audit assurance obtained from them

·         Designing and performing bespoke analysis to help the client service teams better understand the clients business and ledgers

·         Become a  specialist in areas of bespoke data analysis

·         Presenting the results of the data analysis to the client service teams

·         Liaising with the audit service teams to understand the results of investigations and the root causes of anomalies/trends and determine the impact on the financial audit

·         Identifying opportunities for further work and areas of interest/ added value to clients

·         Management and coordination of large client portfolio

 

People Responsibilities:

·         Working as part of a UK team

·         Keeping direct supervisor and wider UK team up to date with progress and any issues

·         Reporting status to senior Assurance stakeholders

·         Supervision/ coaching of junior staff

·         Developing an effective working relationship with client staff

·         Developing seamless working relationships with EY audit teams

·         Gaining an understanding of client/business issues by using the firm's knowledge resources

·         Seek opportunities to expand and share knowledge

·         Seek feedback on personal performance and areas for improvement

 

Person Specification:

·         Outgoing personality and able to quickly form relationships with audit teams and clients

·         Ability to deal with high pressure situations - many clients and frequent deadlines

·         Strong communication and influencing skills and experience of  planning and prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines

  

Experience/Qualifications: 

·         Relevant Accountancy experience, coupled with strong analytical skills

·         Experience of Audit processes

·         Sound working knowledge of MS Excel essential

·         Sound working knowledge of MS Access/MS SQL Server/Visual Basic highly desirable

·         Report writing and presentation skills
