Description
American Express is a global service company, providing customers with exceptional access to products and experiences that enrich lives and build business success.
Each day, we make it easier, safer and more rewarding for consumers and businesses to purchase the things they need and for merchants to sell their goods and services, enabling them to do and achieve more.
We’re committed to becoming the world’s most respected service brand and daily deliver extraordinary service to our customers, constantly reinventing our ways of working to ensure we offer rich rewards that redefine expectations for our clients and ourselves.
Employee First is a programme that will create, drive and deliver the talent strategy for the American Express Technologies UK campus as well as associated communication and change management activities. This will require the Program Manager to build relationships particularly with external organisations in order to leverage opportunities via external technology programmes.
In addition you will be responsible for:
- Managing program costs, resources, risk and issues to ensure that maximum business benefit is maintained
- Providing regular program status updates
- Communicating at all levels of the American Express Technologies UK organisation with regard to program strategy, direction and changes and ensuring scope and approach are fully understood by all stakeholders
- Providing regular input to the overall Communications and Change Management Plan
- Understanding industry trends and as such influencing the direction of the programme.
Qualifications
- Typically hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- Have extensive tech and business work experience, with proven experience in a leadership role and project management role.
- The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who can demonstrate experience in a strategic role and lead projects with limited guidance
- A good working knowledge of technologies and a proven track record for delivering strategic roadmaps
- Proven large scale programme management, strategic thinking, decision making and problem solving skills
- Ability to demonstrate excellent skills in building relationships and working with external partners/organisations
- Ability to build and leverage strong relationships with the Business Partners, HR, Finance and other Technologies teams
- Passion, energy, personal accountability and a genuine interest in latest technology trends
- Ability to multi-task across a variety of projects requiring different competencies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven decision making and problem solving capabilities with strong follow up skills and attention to detail
- Ability to embrace change and influence others across all levels of the organisation
- Proven ability to innovate and implement new and different processes within an established technology team/environment.
We place great importance on doing what is right, what is best and what is innovative. And we continue seeking people to champion these values and beliefs as we grow. The world’s a big place, filled with big ideas and amazing people. And we want the best of them here at American Express. We’re interested in where you came from, but we’re even more excited about where you will go with American Express.
Currently the American Express Technology team is based in Brighton whilst our premises in Burgess Hill are refurbished. Technology positions will be temporally located from an American Express Brighton office therefore all applicants will be required to commit to the commute to Burgess Hill where the Technology positions will be ultimately based for their application to be progressed.
