Job Description
Job Purpose:
An exciting opportunity exists to join Citi Research as a Data Scientist within its Management
Information Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to design, build and
implement our Big Data capability used to shape Citi Research's business strategy.

than 300 research analysts in more than 30 locations around the world.
Citi Research covers more than 3,000 companies, representing over 90
percent of the market capitalization of the major global indices, and
provides macro and quantitative analysis of global markets and sector
trends. Combined with Citi's exceptional sales and trading capabilities
the core focus of the group is to help investing clients make informed
decisions by providing differentiated, value-added, independent,
insightful analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
The
person will be expected to utilize statistical analysis and data mining
techniques, as well as formulate algorithms to identify patterns in
both structured and unstructured datasets. These patterns and insights
will be used to drive optimization of our business.
Person Specification
Knowledge/Experience:
Minimum two years of experience in a Data Scientist role or significant graduate level coursework in this area.
Previous experience within a Big Data environment or with very large and complex datasets.
Previous experience with data mining, algorithms, machine learning
Familiarity with data visualization tools, for example, Tableau.
Skills:
Financial Industry knowledge; an understanding of, and keen interest in, the Research and/or Financial
Markets industry.
Interest in learning and applying new technologies and applications.
Ability
to gather, validate, and analyze large complex information sets;
understand the meaning of the data and how it applies to end users; and
be able to extrapolate trends into actionable insights.
Capable of working in a dynamic rapidly changing environment whilst sensitively managing confidential information.
Excellent verbal, comprehension and written communication skills (English)
Ability
to work under pressure, within tight time-lines and strict attention to
detail. Strong client focus, ownership, urgency and drive.
Qualifications:
Bachelors
or Masters degree with emphasis in one or more of the following: Big
Data, Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Operations
Research, Statistics, Mathematics or Equivalent Quantitative Discipline
Competencies:
Proficiency in Python, SQL, R, SAS, Stat, Matlab or other statistical or programming language.
