| To plan, monitor, assist and advise the Project Manager / Team in the execution of project delivery. The Planner works within a structured Project Team, and may work on more than one project concurrently as required by GE Business Leaders. The Planner holds the responsibility for delivery of Project plans and programmes, advising the Project Manager / Team of adverse information effecting the project delivery dates. | |
| The
Project Planner is responsible for the creation of the project plan (in
the commercial phase and / or in the execution phase). The planner is
tied in the commercial and clarification meetings (when involved in
establishing the bid schedule) and ensures alignment and completeness of
his schedule vs. the bid / contractual requirements.The Project
Planner is responsible for maintaining the chronological sequence of
activities in the plan, updating the plan and ensuring its accuracy. The
update of the plan is performed via the use of authoritative sources of
information as well as through communication / collaboration with the
different functions involved. The project planner incorporates agreed
upon contract amendments plan and makes use of formal change control
mechanisms. The Project Planner advises the project management team of critical path analysis, slippages, and risks associated on the timely completion of the project. As part of it, the planner creates what if scenario and develops mitigation plans. The Project Planner also identifies opportunities to improve the project delivery dates if beneficial for the business. The Project Planner appropriately challenges schedule and planning data provided by other functions and other sources external to the project in order to validate data and information before incorporation into project plans. The Project Planner knows, applies and protects the standard planning processes and policies (QMS) established at GE Oil&Gas Subsea level. When involved in the commercial phase, the planner also reviews the customer specifications to ensure that exceptions to GE processes and standards (schedule or reporting requirements) are discussed and consequently approved/rejected by project management and project planning leadership. The Project Planner provides the project manager with schedule look aheads and metrics (including control points, progress measurement, productivity statistics) helping him in the execution and control of the project. The Project Planner prepares planning metrics required for business execution and monitoring in accordance with timescales agreed as part of the project operating rhythm. | |
| The
Project Planner attends relevant meetings (as required) held by each
function geared at providing status on project execution (engineering
line of balance, procurement meeting, CPS manufacturing meeting,
Manufacturing start of work...). He also links up with logistics in
advance of shipment to ensure coordination of the transportation and
customs activities.The Project Planner actively and closely
collaborates with the planners of the other product lines, the EPC
planner, the engineering & system planners to form one team focused
on the overall timely execution of the project. The Project Planner proactively escalates to his manager (and to the Subsea P&P planning leader if needed) in the following cases: i) need for greater support from any part of the organization ii) need for guidance on how to implement a new tool or process iii) inability to get answer to questions related to plan execution iv) resolution of conflicts The Project Planner is accountable for ensuring that all project schedule risks/opportunities are identified, quantified and managed in the business risk management tool (ARM) and that the risks are reviewed and updated on a periodic basis The Project Planner supports the project manager in the interactions with the clients. The Project Planner strives to fulfil the customer’ expectations without ever compromising on the standard GE Oil&Gas Subsea processes and policies The Project Planner proactively supports the implementation of improvement initiatives and reaches out for help in case of lack of understanding or questions regarding the relevance of a particular initiative. The Project Planner also supports lessons learned exercises and proactively feeds back improvement opportunities
