Role Summary/Purpose	Operate as a key controllership representative to all functions in the business and ensure that business initiatives and controls are operating effectively. Ensure that the operating systems are operating with the necessary controls to ensure that our books and records are complete and accurate.
Essential Responsibilities	The Operational Accountant is responsible for: Process improvement • Drive operational process improvement by developing in depth knowledge of the sub-systems in accordance with financial and regulatory reporting requirements • Work with off-shore team, to develop knowledge base and ensure tasks are performed by to the highest standards • Identify opportunities and deliver solutions to reduce manual routines • Achieve operational simplification through automation and digitization opportunities, thereby reducing cycle times and reduce the quantity of exceptions generated. • Pro-actively seek controllership projects to improve simplification & efficiency • Assist legal entities simplification, internal and external audits, and HQ reporting as applicable Accounting and Reporting • Ensure sub-system processes have financial integrity, proper controls and operate efficiently • Ensure timely and accurate closing and reporting activities are met and ensure integrity of assigned balance sheet accounts for both statutory, regulatory & US GAAP reporting. • Ensure rigorous closing and reporting process in place for statutory reporting to meet FSA & Bank of England reporting • Complete quarterly account reconciliations process and reporting to HQ • Support monthly and quarterly reporting to HQ & US including SEC and FED • Assistance with preparation of UK stats and answering KPMG audit queries • Ensure integrity of loss reporting and income recognition • Complete relevant Sarbanes-Oxley testing for the business Account Reconciliations • Operate as a core reconciler and reviewer of assigned balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and quality for both statutory & US GAAP • Complete IRIS to GL reconciliation
Qualifications/Requirements	• Strong financial, accounting and analysis skills • Strong communication skills, ability to present complex structures in a simple fashion & drive change • A self-starter, independent with strong intellectual curiosity. • A clear thinker, who can simplify strategy into specific actions, makes decisions and communicates priorities. • Ability to work effectively across functions and geographies • Has imagination and courage to take risks on both processes and ideas • Develops expertise in a function or domain, using depth as a source of confidence to drive change • Proven track record in working within a team • Self-motivated individual • Established credibility and experience interfacing with peers and managers • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize under pressure • Business perspective with proven analytical capability • Highly articulate and confident communicator • Strong IT/System knowledge
