If you want to play a key role in the growth of American Express by protecting our assets and our customers, Global Credit Administration (GCA) could be a good fit for you.

GCA is responsible for the end-to-end management of our credit, collections, and fraud operations around the world. We protect American Express' assets by minimizing credit and fraud losses at best-in-class levels. We utilize outstanding techniques, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and provide superior service to improve customer and shareholder value. To do so, we challenge ourselves to have the most talented teams supported by best-in-class capabilities and processes.

Our MBA Internship Program will provide high-performing MBA students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in projects that have strategic, operational or financial significance to the company. Interns will meet line of business employees and leaders from all levels, regions and functions to have a chance to learn about the culture and values of the organization

In GCA your role could helps us enabling one or more of the following priorities:
- Delivering best-in-class Credit, Collections and Fraud capabilities and services to our Customers, Clients and to American Express
- Improving our systems and processes in order to fulfil our mantra: reduce provision, enable spend, and prevent fraud
- Strengthening our controls and governance to provide superior services to our internal and external customers

Depending on your background, you could be supporting a project under one of our four pillars:

* Credit Operations responsible for recovering balances and limiting exposure, while building upon the customer's relationship with American Express.

* Global Fraud Protection Services provides management of fraud capabilities, strategies and operations to protect our merchants and customers from fraud.

* Global Collections has oversight of the management of our first and third-party collections agencies, as well as various specialty partners.

* Strategy and Support defines the strategy for GCA, while continuing to also provide functional support in areas such as customer management, analytics, and management and information systems.

What would you do every day as an Operations GCA Summer Intern at American Express?

* Evaluate processes and develop strategies for reducing provision for losses, preventing fraud or enabling profitable spend

* Optimize processes to enhance performance, satisfaction, and economics

* Analyze trends in our customer’s interactions and identify opportunities for American Express

* Work with internal clients, external partners, and support groups in cross-functional teams to develop strategies that enhance the card member experience and drive business growth

The Programme commences in June 2014 for 10 weeks.

It consists of the following components:

* Introduction to American Express

* Meaningful projects

* Speaker sessions with senior management

* Social and networking events

* Group assignment

* Buddy programme

* Mid-term and final performance reviews

Here are the skills and experiences we’re looking for. Do these describe you?

* Strong analytical skills, problem solvers and project managers

* Background in quantitative analysis

* Excellent project management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

* MBA with strategy/general management concentration

* Experience applying six sigma tools/methodology

* Excellent communicators and team players with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and easy to understand manner

* Strong relationship building skills
