GENERAL SUMMARY
Manages the activities of a product family via first level managers or exempt specialists, which provide content in the formulation of strategic business plans for a line of products. Drives product management processes to optimize product definition, maximize the value of products to EMC's business and product impact in the marketplace. Creates "first, best content" which describes and communicates product vision and product direction for customers, analysts, and internal EMC audiences. Formulates tactics to support the growth associated with a product line and/or product family.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages activities of a product line and/or product family through first level managers and exempt specialists.
Develops and establishes operational policies within area managed. May participate in development of functional strategy.
Has overall responsibility of developing and administering budgets, schedules, and performance standards for the organizational unit.
Manages employees that perform similar or related tasks. Includes some strategic planning for a product line and/or product family.
Participates in the development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions would normally have serious effect on the success of the product family or company operations.
Considered first or second level of management with human resource responsibilities. Responsible for defining and realizing market share, profitability, and other key metrics as goals for a product portfolio.
Able to identify business development opportunities in the form of alliances, partnerships, acquisitions, which enable growth of the business, line beyond organic limits.
