The
Engineering Software Manager position is a key engineering role
responsible for execution on projects with annual business revenue of
over £300M. This manager role will be responsible for driving the
development of software and technology to support Subsea control
systems.
Reports to the Software Engineering Functional Leader
Lead a global engineering team of engineers responsible for
project fulfilment and new product development of software used for
Subsea Control Systems and in-house automated testing equipment.
Technical leadership of the software Projects and Products Requisition Engineering team.
Drives assigned Engineering team to achieve departmental Goals & Objectives and Metrics e.g. FTY, OTD, COPQ, LOB, DMP.
People management and development of the assigned
Engineering team, including; EMS, Session C, Technical Session C,
Engagement, R&R, Career Development & Mentoring.
Works closely with the Software Quality Leader to ensure
compliance to, & improvement (including ‘lean’) of our Quality
Management System and retention of TickIt.
Ensures the required resource profile is available for the
business needs including; assisting with interviews and selection of
employees and contractors.
Provides support to the Engineering function in review and
input to legislative and industry standards in relation to responsible
product stream.
Drives continual improvement and best practice in Engineering processes related to assigned Engineering tasks.
Maintains knowledge of best in class software packages in
aspects from development to test and continually evaluates fit and needs
for the PCS business.
Provides consultancy advice to the Bids, Advanced Technology and Eng when requested.
Educated as a minimum to HND or Degree level in the Software Discipline / relevant subject to this position.
A member of the BCS or akin professional body.
Prior team leadership/management experience
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Experience / Particular Skills
Proven track record in technical & management leadership of multi-disciplined Software teams.
Subject matter expert in full life cycle development & testing.
Technical problem solving and report out.
Product structuring and standardisation best practice.
Detailed knowledge of real time embedded systems and architecture, structured development methods and automated testing.
Knowledge of SCADA and PLC systems.
Ability to develop & implement software product Quality standards as per ISO / IEC 9126.
Resilient & persistent under all circumstances
Commercially astute
Able to work cross position / department within an Engineering environment
