Job Purpose:
 
Reporting to the Regional Head of AML projects with a matrix reporting to the Global Project Management Office, the Compliance AML Senior Project Manager (‘Senior Project Manager’) will provide support for program and project planning, governance, execution, tracking, communications and reporting for multiple cross-functional projects within the AML Compliance change program.
 
This seasoned professional is expected to utilize a deep understanding of Citi’s organization, infrastructure, policies and business strategy to facilitate the implementation of enterprise-wide governance policies, strategies and practices. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Citi AML Operations and AML Technology units, in particular their Project Management functions. This is a management role with direct supervisory responsibility over one or more project managers or PMO analysts.
 
Job Background/context:
 
The AML Program & Analytics team sits within the AML Core Compliance group in London. The team works closely with its Compliance colleagues in the AML Advisory, Sanctions, Financial Intelligence Unit and Global Investigations Unit (FIU & GIU) in EMEA, the global functional groups in New York and the other regions, as well as local AML Ops & Technology and Business Risk stakeholders.
 
Its main remit is to drive standardisation and best practice in governance change, project and program management, and metrics and analytics.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Specific responsibilities include:
 
Business
  • Coordination with global cross-functional teams to refine the PMO framework that identifies, prioritizes and facilitates execution of ongoing enhancements to AML Compliance program
  • Collaborate with knowledgeable and demanding stakeholders to establish project plans for major initiatives and drive efforts to a successful conclusion
  • Engaging with AML Ops, AML Technology, Business Risk and other functional teams to deliver consistent and efficient process enhancements, providing hands-on support and issue escalation as needed
  • Assist with budget and resource requirements for key projects by partnering with project managers to understand scope of effort, deliverables, and project plans
  • Assist with maintaining coherent and concise communications detailing the scope, progress and results of initiatives underway 
 
Project Management
  • Assess creation and signoff of project management deliverables
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of how own area and others collectively integrate to contribute towards achieving business objectives
  • Oversee project plans and ensure they meet business needs as described in the project initiation documents
  • Ensure all stakeholders are identified and included in scope definition activities and understand the project schedule and key milestones
  • Work with Project Sponsor to ensure business case/cost benefit analysis is in line with business objectives
  • Ensure all areas of the project and project management office are appropriately staffed
  • Monitor project commitment from those assigning resources
  • Escalate project risks to the Project Sponsor or Governance Forums, when appropriate
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of how own area and others collectively integrate to contribute towards achieving business objectives
  • Provides in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Directly affects the business by influencing strategic functional decisions through advice, counsel or provided services.
  • Persuades and influences others through developed communication and diplomacy skills with colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.

Qualifications

 
Knowledge/Experience:
  • The successful candidate will be experienced in interacting with knowledgeable and demanding audiences at all levels of a business.
  • The incumbent is expected to demonstrate flexibility, versatility and an ability to shepherd multiple concurrent priorities to completion without significant guidance.
  • Demonstrable success in coordinating large-scale projects involving geographically and functionally diverse stakeholders is required and prior exposure to data management and/or data quality initiatives would be beneficial.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to succinctly convey information to senior management are expected.
  • Experience with technology and/or project management-related responsibilities in a financial services institution is required and project manager certification is a plus.
Skills:
  • Ability to understand complex issues and communicate and influence effectively across all levels of the organisation
  • The candidate must be able to document their work effectively and communicate ideas and conclusions in a clear and concise manner, which is appropriate to the audience
  • Teamwork is critical to the group and any candidate will need to display strong skills in this area

Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will be educated to degree standard and/or will have attained a recognised Securities Industry qualification such as the Securities Industry Diploma.
  • A recognised Project/Program Management qualification (PRINCEII,PMP etc) is also desirable.
Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
