Advanced Manufacturing Engineers provide dedicated technical support to on a nominated production line within the Groby manufacturing facility. Successful candidates should expect to work in a fast-paced, customer focused production environment, providing quick and effective solutions to daily production issues, support New Product Introductions (NPIs) and contribute to longer-term process improvements to drive productivity.
  • Design, procure and assemble fixturing/tooling to improve manufacturing processes 
  • Work in conjunction with Design Engineering on projects to improve productivity, increase yield, reduce costs or launch new products 
  • Create specifications, piece part and assembly drawing and Bills of Materials for production equipment using appropriate CAD tools (AutoCAD and Pro/Engineer) 
  • Create and modify routings within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system 
  • Review and approve product design drawings, including design for manufacture review 
  • Raise Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) to approve and document changes to existing processes and products 
  • Create new or improve existing production documentation including routings, test procedures, works instructions/standard work and process flows 
  • Perform root cause analysis on production scrap and implement preventative actions 
  • Support Value Stream teams (VSTs), process owners and liaise with production operators 
  • Support specification and qualification of substitute components 
  • Transfer new products from engineering into production, including floor layout, equipment requirements, test requirements and manufacturing process flow.
  • HND/HNC or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering discipline 
  • Understanding of Manufacturing processes (Machining, Welding, Injection Moulding etc) 
  • Relevant CAD experience (AutoCAD and/or Pro/Engineer) 
  • Ability to read, understand and generate technical drawings, documents and reports 
  • Sound understanding of stress and strain and materials science in particular when applied to pressure piping/vessels 
  • Driven self-starter who can apply initiative and work autonomously within the wider manufacturing engineering team 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong willingness to learn and ask relevant questions 
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word/Excel/Powerpoint) 
  • Eligibility to work with and view ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) restricted data (aerospace/instruments product lines only).
  • Experience in Manufacturing Control/Statistical Process Control 
  • Demonstrated Leadership ability 
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience in a related industry 
  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas or Aerospace regulatory frameworks.
