GE Oil & Gas has a vacancy for a Senior FPGA & Electronics Design Engineer to enhance its Multiphase flow meter (MPFM) design function. This rapidly growing division is looking for the finest candidates to provide first class Engineering support to the MPFM business. The team is developing a new MPFM product line driven by organic growth and market demands. The team also provide technical support for internal and external customers, sales, marketing and production.
  • Design of multi-technology flow sensor interfaces. 
  • System and circuit design of multi-channel data acquisition and processing products. 
  • Testing and characterisation of new sensor technologies. 
  • Design Change Initiation/Control. 
  • Manufacturing support and ability to solve manufacturing related problems quickly. 
  • High standard of documentation as evidence of conformity. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. 
  • Reviewing marketing information and creating design specifications. 
  • Supporting external customers, internal sales and marketing functions. 
  • Working with Research Teams to bring new technology into the group.
  • Experience in FPGA design and simulation skills (Verilog or VHDL, Modelsim / Aldec or similar). 
  • FPGA soft-core processor implementation. 
  • Static timing analysis and timing closure. 
  • Ethernet (TCPIP, UDP) protocol implementation. 
  • High Speed ADC/DAC hardware design skills and experience. 
  • Microprocessor circuit design including DDR2/3. 
  • System architecture design including Worker/Protector systems. 
  • High-resilience software download mechanisms. 
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering. 
  • Strong time management skills. 
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Produce accurate work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Altera FPGAs and tool chain. 
  • C/C++ coding skills. 
  • TCL scripting. 
  • Analogue design skills and experience. 
  • MATLAB. 
  • Schematic capture using PADS. 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma quality tools and lean processes.
