Chokes & spools is two off four feeder cells within Bridge of Don providing Choke Control valves and Spool fabrication to the main production line. The candidate is expected to manage the execution of the cell both daily and weekly to meet the overall plant quarter commitment while reporting into the Cell Leader.Candidate will work across departments with aid of a planner and production facilitator to maintain delivery and cell standards on permanent days at 37.5 hours Monday to Friday.
  • Candidate must be able to prioritize works orders/ cell tasks daily and weekly to manage execution of the cell to plant deliverables and MRP systems
  • Candidate must be able create/ maintain production tracking sheets for presentation to functions at cell production meetings and reporting
  • Candidate will manage production sheets for interdepartmental hand off of works orders out with Supervisory control
  • Candidate will establish POs and manage Sub con works for timely delivery of contracted work by interpreting requirements from Engineering design as laid down in Routings plus engineering database
  • Enable timely escalation of issues with departmental leads where necessary to correct/ report impact of missed targets
  • They will monitor Cells adherence to project documentation within work packs for submittal to quality department at job completion
  • Co-ordinate and ensure adherence of notifications to Inspection & test plans
  • Assist planner in creation of quarter planning and beyond
  • Provide commit dates daily to cell planner for effective commitment to main production line staging
  • Timely management of non-conformance creation to resolution
  • Work with and instigate PQE investigation into repeat failures on the shop floor for corrective action plus route cause analysis
  • Represent department at weekly non-conformance reviews for effective allocation of CoPQ
  • Assist/ Represent department at technical reviews for NPI and repeat operational issues with A/ME and Engineering departments (inclusive of testing and equipment issues)
  • Review and approve hours daily for time & attendance plus job hours via Time & Attendance systems as assisted by Production Facilitator
  • Ensure execution of training and holiday plans as assisted by Production Facilitator
  • EHS adherence within Cell ensuring cells compliance to housekeeping, stop works, concern reports, safety stand downs and tool box talks
  • The candidate must adhere and enforce Company Site Rules
    • The candidate must adhere and enforce Company/ local & National Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • The candidate is expected to be involved in Lean Six Sigma projects throughout the year and assist staff where necessary in execution thereof
  • The candidate will provide constructive & timely mid-year and year end appraisals for staff development
  • They can understand and adhere to the companies Spirit & Letter plus Policies that maintain the GE work environment such Growth Values.
  • HNC in mechanical or other relevant engineering qualification
  • Previous experience in operations, either manufacturing shop floor or team leadership
  • Experience with AS400 or other similar MRP system (e.g. Oracle, SAP)
  • Experience in the usage of web forms
  • Basic computing skills with knowledge in how to use Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience in Training programs
  • Experience/ basic knowledge in planning methodologies
  • Experience in writing risk assessments
  • Understanding or previous experience in ISO 9000
  • Knowledge in Lean or Six Sigma Methodologies
  • Able to work overtime when required.
  • Experience/ understanding of welding practices and/ or weld shops
  • Experience/ understanding in Pressure testing lifting operations
  • Knowledge in Route Cause analysis
  • Experience in Time & Attendance Systems (e.g. Job Cards, Kronos, QTar)
