Software Engineer will work within a dedicated Team. He / She may be required to work on one or more projects concurrently as agreed with the Software Engineering Manager. The Software Engineer is responsible assisting with technical support through the manufacturing and test of the project deliverables. A key role and requirement for the Software Engineer is to ensure the quality of the software engineering work.

  • Be part of a small team of software engineers. 
  • Reporting of project progress on a regular basis. 
  • Provide assistance to the Supply Chain Management Department as and when necessary to assist with the procurement activities. 
  • Preparation of Project Requirements and Design Specifications. 
  • Preparation of the Software Products Requirements, Design and Interface 
  • Preparation of Test Requirements for specific software applications/units to standards as defined within the Codes of Practice. 
  • Helping to ensure that System and unit Design Specifications comply with the contractual safety standards. 
  • Preparation and reviewing of supplementary Project/Product documentation. 
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other disciplines. 
  • Technical liaison with the Unit specialists. 
  • Support of technical and project execution audits imposed by clients. 
  • Software engineering support during various test phases. 
  • Attend project close-out meetings/lessons learned. 

  • Degree / HND qualified (or equivalent) in an Engineering field. 
  • Have a proven Software Engineering background in PLC / SCADA systems (at least one of the following).

    • Mainstream PLC e.g. Rockwell ControlLogix (Ladder, SFC, FBD) 
    • Mainstream SCADA e.g. Wonderware Intouch 
  • Have experience of working with codes of practice and national and international standards. 
  • Have proven experience working within a team of software engineers. 
  • Be capable of working to and within the Contract articles. 
  • Be able to communicate effectively – verbal and written English. 
  • Be capable of multi-tasking and working to agreed schedules and be ‘commercially aware’ in engineering solutions. 
  • Flexibility to work across a various range of Company products within the software discipline.

  • Member of the BCS or other professional body. 
  • Preferred experience of communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, TCP/IP and CANOpen. 
  • Offshore working experience.
