American Express Global Business Travel (GBT), a division of American Express Company, is a global leader in business travel and meetings management committed to helping business succeed through cost-effective program management, world-class customer service, and enhanced traveler productivity support worldwide.
This position is a highly visible and integral role within the Global Supplier Relations (GSR) organization which generates revenue through supplier partnerships. The candidate will be responsible for driving the GSR Supplier value proposition through key Point-of-Sale (POS) programs and innovative capabilities.
Reporting to the Global VP of Distribution and POS strategy, this role will be directly accountable for a multi-million dollar P&L, own the Next Generation preferencing strategy, and inspire a team of high-performing professionals. The objective of this team will be to implement new, innovative POS preferencing products as well as manage supplier campaigns which support and enhance GSR supplier strategy.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing thought leadership to enhance our Supplier value proposition while developing, communicating, and executing on our POS strategy across the globe
- Developing digital products within the new media and/or e-commerce space (experience in this area a plus)
- Leading cross-functional projects that have significant global impact (experience in this area required)
- Using strong business acumen to quickly assess new business opportunities and understand how strategic plans can enable revenue and profit growth
- Investigating and implementing new technologies, services and/or supplier solutions to enhance AMEX BT’s capabilities
- Managing a portfolio of 3rd party technology and travel content vendors which includes negotiating for better economics and improved services
- Acting as lead stakeholder representing GSR with any broader organization project that could influence traveler choice
- Effectively leading and motivating a large team that:
- Innovates and delivers new products and capabilities that support the supplier and distribution strategies
- Works closely with the Business Development and Revenue Management teams to develop and implement campaigns that drive Preferred Supplier Revenue; then communicate the efficacy of these programs
- Gathers requirements, manages projects, and executes on the broader strategic roadmap from the Director

- Negotiation and vendor relationship skills
- Acute financial acumen; able to buildcost-benefit analyses and convey key benefits and clear value propositions to the business
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing people at all levels of the organization in order to set common goals and deliver according to plans
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Business Travel experience a plus but not required
Qualification, Experience and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, a Masters or MBA a bonus
- Comfortable presenting at senior levels
